Having worked in education since 2004, he founded Ivy Education in 2010 with a clear mission: to combine genuine care with an uncompromising standard of expertise, delivering structured, dependable support that puts the child’s confidence, well-being, and outcomes at the centre.
A fully qualified teacher (PGCE, Secondary Education), University of Bath, Alastair’s foundations are firmly rooted in the classroom. After starting out as a Teaching Assistant at Garden House School, he went on to teach at leading London prep schools, including Dulwich College Preparatory School and Thomas's Prep School, and taught Sciences abroad at St Kevin's College. He also holds a BSc in Geoscience from the University of Bristol.
Since founding Ivy, Alastair has remained hands-on in setting the quality bar across the business, from selecting and developing exceptional educators to building robust matching and delivery processes that ensure families receive calm, joined-up guidance rather than generic advice. Under his leadership, Ivy has expanded through the acquisition of Wentworth Education (2020) and Kings Tutors (2021), bringing together a wider community of specialist teachers and consultants under the Ivy Education family.
Alastair is known for combining a clear, “formulaic” framework with a deeply personal approach, ensuring every family feels understood, every plan is tailored, and every recommendation is grounded in real educational expertise.
