Standard Level and Higher Level: What are they, and which should I take?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) program is offered in two levels: Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL).
SL courses are designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the subject matter, while HL courses are more in-depth and require a greater level of analysis and critical thinking.
HL courses typically cover more material, have more demanding assignments and exams, and require a greater level of independent research.
In general, SL courses are recommended for a student's secondary subjects, while HL courses are recommended for students who have a strong interest in the subject and are planning to pursue it at a higher level in University or beyond.
