Our 11+ Written Entrance Exam Technique Course, taking place in the summer holidays, is designed for Year 5 & 6 students to familiarise themselves with the assessment format and refine exam technique ahead of upcoming written entrance exams at top-tier independent schools.

Your child will learn to master key examination techniques in all subject areas and be equipped with the skills to effectively utilise their knowledge so that they are perfectly prepared for exam day.

This course is designed for students who wish to boost their scores in all sections of the 11+ written examinations, preparing for entrance to top-tier Independent Schools such as Westminster, St Paul’s, UCS, Alleyn’s, and many more…

Our specialists have expertly designed our course to focus on skills and question types common across all 11+ independent school entrance exams and will cover English, Maths, and Reasoning (Verbal and Non-Verbal).

During the three-hour sessions, our exam entrance specialists will break down the types of questions commonly encountered in written exams topic-by-topic and how to best approach them*. The first three days will focus on English, Maths, and Reasoning, respectively, and the final day will summarise all topics and techniques learned with a question-and-answer session at the end.

As this is an exam-technique focussed course, upon
completion of the course, students at any stage of their preparation will become more confident in their ability to tackle all sections of any written entrance exam from any top-tier school. In addition, students will master how to prioritise their time during the exam best to gain the most marks out of any section of the written exam.

Skills Covered

Students will learn to:
  • Identify key question types and learn how to approach them
  • Apply their knowledge to solve exam questions
  • Practise and reinforce their learning through structured revision
  • Analyse and evaluate a range of questions within English, Maths, and Reasoning


- Students will learn to recognise different question types and understand how to approach them effectively.

- Students will apply their subject knowledge to solve exam-style questions.

- Students will analyse and evaluate a range of questions within each skill area, recognising the techniques exam writers often use to create more difficulty within questions.

- Sudents will learn to formulate their mock exam questions using the skills and techniques studied throughout the course, which their course peers will solve and evaluate.

- Students will learn exam techniques essential for all areas of the 11+ exam.
