Kemi is a graduate who has studied at both University College London and the University of Oxford. With over 15 years spent working in education, Kemi initially taught as a SEN specialist before undertaking a PGCE in 2008 and qualifying as an English teacher. Over the years, Kemi has helped each of the students in her care to achieve outstanding results, consistently securing a slew of top grades in GCSE examinations across her classes, as well as setting numerous school records for the highest English results achieved historically within the institutions that she has worked. Most recently, Kemi has been both a Teacher of English and Pre-University Lecturer at Alleyn’s School and James Allen’s Girls’ School, effectively challenging a range of higher ability students. Kemi is also a Film Critic for a national magazine and has won awards for her writing style and precision.
Kemi is well versed with the content of the 7+, 8+ and 11+ examinations, with particular strength in teaching students critical tools for refining and extending their written responses in the English papers. In addition to this, Kemi employs a range of enjoyable and interactive approaches to aid student performance in the mathematical and reasoning components of entrance examinations. One-to-one tuition has always been an integral part of Kemi’s teaching practice, the success of which is based on using individualised targets and a differentiated teaching style for each student.
Kemi has herself written and marked the 11+ entrance examinations for some of the country’s most prestigious schools, as well as been an official Examiner for leading national examination boards. Kemi easily adapts her approach for students with additional learning needs, given the range of students with SEN in her classes over the years and her experience as a Learning Support Teacher. The unique combination of Kemi’s skills and experience, combined with her tireless enthusiasm and engaging manner, makes her an excellent choice for students and their families.
